Mobile car care company Yoshi Mobility has just unveiled a DC fast-charging EV mobile unit, describing it as “a supercharger on wheels.”
Identifying a gap in mobile EV charging infrastructure, Yoshi Mobility, based in Nashville, decided to provide a solution to its customers. The company’s move addresses the need for mobile EV charging in areas where fixed infrastructure is still lacking.
“We recognized a demand among our customers for convenient daily charging, reliable private charging networks, and proper charging infrastructure to support their fleet vehicles as they transition to electric,” said Dan Hunter, Yoshi Mobility’s chief EV officer and co-founder.
Yoshi Mobility’s new 240 kW mobile DC fast charger can turn “any EV” into a mobile charging unit, boasting the distinction of being the first fully electric mobile charger available. The unit can handle multiple charges on a single trip, although the company has not disclosed specifics about how the DC fast charger itself is charged or its manufacturer. When asked for details, the company stated it would not yet disclose client names or the manufacturer’s identity.
The launch involves two GM BrightDrop Zevo 600s, with plans to introduce more vehicles throughout 2024. Full commercialization is targeted for the first quarter of 2025.
Yoshi Mobility has already deployed its EV charging solutions for “major OEMs, autonomous vehicle companies, and rideshare operators” across the US. Its initial clientele includes large EV operators managing “hundreds” of light-duty vehicles that require up to 1 megawatt of energy per day and lack access to grid-connected EV chargers. Additional details on these clients have been requested and will be updated as available.
The pricing for Yoshi’s service varies based on location and enterprise charging needs. Once a service contract is in place, Yoshi Mobility promises deployment to US-based customers within 10 days.
